Livestock and Poultry Vaccine Research and Production Centre (LPVRPC)
The LPVRPC previously known as Poultry Biologics Unit (PBU) was established in 1982 with the initiative of late Prof. Dr. TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhruy. This is a self proceed project of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene approved by the BAU syndicate. The project is managed by a Project Implementation Committee (PIC) comprised of a Convener (Professor Dr. S.M. Lutful Kabir, Head, Dept. of Microbiology & Hygiene), Principal investigator (Professor Dr. Md. Ariful Islam), Research team (Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Kafi, Dr. Mahbubul Pratik Siddique and Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam) Head, Dept. of Poultry Science, Associate Director, BAURES and Associate Director, BAUEC .
The main objectives of this center are to develop livestock and poultry vaccines from the field bacterial and viral isolates and to supply experimentally develop vaccines to the livestock and poultry farmers.
This center has developed Baby Chick Ranikhet Disease Vaccine (BCRDV), Ranikhet Disease Vaccine (RDV), Inactivated fowl cholera vaccine and Inactivated Salmonella bivalent (contained Salmonella pullorum and Salmonella gallinarum whole cell antigens) vaccines.
